WebOct 18, 2016 · Harrison sought funding to undergo the project and after visiting Edmond Halley (of comet fame) the Astronomer Royal in 1730 he was given the name of George Graham, one of the foremost clockmakers of the time. Graham was impressed with Harrison's ideas and funded the first project which we now refer to as H1 (Harrison 1).
